Pneumonia, FITT, COVID-19 - What a ride!
It has been a very long time since I provided an update on my business website and while I regret not having kept it up, there are a few reasons for this...so let me explain.
When I left you last, I was on my way to Recruit School as part of my joining the Navy Reserves. Well that was quite an experience and one I will never forget - for a couple of reasons. First, it was an amazing experience to be challenged under such conditions and with a group of people who were all pushing to achieve the same goal. I learned a great deal about interpersonal dynamics during that short five week experience. Second, yes it was short because I caught streptococul pneumonia and had to return to my home Unit to recover properly. That took a real toll on me physically and I have a greater appreciation for what we are all going through now, but more on that in a moment.
Over the course of the summer of 2019 I was approached by a former employer, FITT - the Forum for International Trade Training - to come back to work for them. It was a great opportunity and so when I was back on my feet in November I started with them. It was a bit of a challenging experience from the get go as there was some uncertainty as to what role I was really best suited for. Eventually, I also learned I was not the right match for what they needed and we've agreed to part ways the end of April.
So that brings us to today - April 15th, 2020. We are all one month into working from home, physical distancing and trying to come to terms with a world on its head. It seems shallow to say business isn't as usual when the real case is that life is not as usual. But for most of us, our business is what helps drive our lives. Well, in my case I am back in the saddle with Saddle Up Management. I am here to help your business with its international trade opportunities, whether that's finding new ones, dealing with your existing ones or thinking through how you can best adapt in these extraordinary times.
As I have always done since founding this company, I don't charge for any conversations or meetings at the outset. It's important to establish mutual understanding, scope out situations and create trust between people. Sharing thoughts and ideas over a few initial meetings can do just that. It can also truly determine if there is a project we can collaborate on. It's time well invested and despite the adage that you get what you pay for, what you are getting with me is a seasoned business professional with some 27 years of experience across a broad range of sectors and situations.
